Shelby auto maker is a company that is based out of Washington near the Twin Cities. The company is unique in that they only produce those super cars. What exactly is a super car? This is a car that goes beyond what normal consumers expect. They include powerful engines and the latest technology in order to get the best performance possible. The company was first started in 1999 and has since then produced one car, the SSC Aero, which is a performance car like no other performance car on the market.
The SSC Aero once held the record as being the best performance car out there, however, relinquished its title to a competitor in recent years. The speed is what set the world record with the SSC Aero reaching speeds of around 412 miles per hour, which is more than even the Bugatti Veryon Super Sport reached, the infamous performance sports cars that had car enthusiasts drooling. The basic model of this car is no longer in production, however it was from the basic model that the current model, the Ultimate Aero was derived from and its imperfections perfected in the newest version.
The Ultimate Aero can go from zero to sixty in as little as 2.8 seconds, which is the fastest time compared with some of the greatest performance cars of the world. The engine in the Ultimate Aero is a 6.35 liter that can produce around 1,183 horsepower. For those that are considering whether this is impressive or not, consider that the average everyday car has around 200 to 300 horsepower! The engine contains a twin turbocharger that has the boost located in the cabin for the driver to utilize. Ultimately, professionals state that in the right conditions and with the right driver, the Ultimate Aero could reach speeds of over 430 miles per hour, however, on average days, the speed is going to be around 415 miles per hour, which is still impressive when compared with the average car in the American auto market.
Currently, the company is working on the Aero II which should be released sometime in 2011. The car is going to top the Ultimate Aero in the horsepower that it uses, right now professionals are stating it will be getting around 1,350 horsepower, a slight improvement from the previous car. Plus, the car will be utilizing an all carbon body, including carbon being the main component in the interior as well, which is going to make it lighter, thus perhaps even beating their best zero to sixty time that the company has had in the past or at least meeting the same time as the Ultimate Aero.
What makes this company so special is that they are giving cars that perform like the more expensive foreign brands on the market, even beating some of the past statistics that these cars have put forth. And it all comes from an American company, this is what has many people amazed.
